Finite Verb (সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া) : Finite শব্দটি এসেছে Latin শব্দ Finitus থেকে, যার অর্থ অন্যের দ্বারা সীমাবদ্ধ বা নিয়ন্ত্রিত। যে verb-গুলো তাদের tense ও mood দ্বারা এবং তার subject এর person ও number দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয়, তাদেরকে Finite Verb বলে। একটি clause-এ অবশ্যই একটি Finite Verb থাকে, যেমন— He sings a song. He knows it.

Principal Verb : Sentence-এ যে verb-এর নিজস্ব অর্থ থাকে এবং অন্য কোনো verb-এর সাহায্য ছাড়াও স্বাধীনভাবে সম্পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে পারে, তাকে Principal verb বলে। যেমন— We play cricket. We need some money.

Intransitive Verb : যে verb-এর অর্থ পরিপূর্ণ করার জন্য object-এর প্রয়োজন পড়ে না অর্থাৎ যে verb-এর object থাকে না তাকে intransitive verb বলে।যেমন- sing, fly, come, go, dance, swim, rise, cry, bark, laugh, arrive ইত্যাদি intransitive verb.
